Rain lashed against the windows of the art gallery, mirroring the tempest inside Leo. He hunched his shoulders, the weight of the day – the endless meetings, the demanding clients – pressing down on him. His feet ached from standing, and a headache throbbed behind his eyes. He'd come to see Sarah’s new exhibit, hoping for a moment of peace. He found her standing by a particularly striking piece, but she was not alone.

A woman, clutching a glass of wine, was gazing at the same painting with a look of stunned disbelief. Sarah was gesticulating, looking flustered.

"He told me he was stuck at work," the woman said, her voice thin. Leo felt his stomach drop.

"Me too," he replied, feeling a strange mix of disbelief and detached amusement. Sarah was now staring, her face paling rapidly.
